Stop Burglars With A Home Burglar Alarm

Statistics show that once every 14 seconds a home is broken into. These burglaries occur twenty four hours a day, regardless of whether the home is occupied at the time or not. Having a home burglar alarm can greatly reduce the chance that your home will be one of them.

Burglars prefer to work under cover of darkness and in secret. For this reason, they are acutely aware of who does and who doesn't have a home burglar alarm system installed. If three of five homes on your block have burglar alarms, where do you think the burglars will be more likely to strike? Home burglar alarms come in several varieties and at a wide range of prices. They can be bought as do it yourself kits that the homeowner installs him/herself. They can also be complex affairs installed by professionals. Regardless of the manner of installation, the presence of to alarm system will act as a deterrent to crime and assist in notification of the homeowner and/or authorities in the case of a break in.

Many home burglar alarms also come with special sensors that detect excessive heat or smoke that would indicate a fire. Some are linked directly to the local fire department or have a monitoring system that will make this notification.

The basic components of a home burglar alarm are divided into three parts. All systems have sensors that are attached at all doors and windows to alert the system to unauthorized entry. Many also include sensors that would indicate a fire. Some include a sensor to receive a personal signal from a member of the family in the case of a medical emergency. All home burglar alarm systems have a signaling device that makes a loud noise in the event of an unauthorized entry and/or a fire. These devices are normally mounted in a manner that would make their presence visible to potential burglars. Some are also linked to outside lights that come on in the event of an alarm condition. Motion sensors linked to the system can also turn on lights at motion outside the home. This feature will act as a strong deterrent to burglars who prefer to work in the dark.

The last, but most important, component is the control panel. This is normally installed near the entryway used most often by the family. A keypad allows entry of codes that arm or disarm the alarm. Home burglar alarms come in many types and price ranges. They all share certain characteristics no matter who manufactured or installed them. In a world where a home is burglarized every fourteen seconds, the presence of a home burglar alarm system will cut the chance that yours will be one.
